Lettering Layout is a level two hand lettering course with a focus on layout, design, and composition! It picks right up where my "Hand Lettering 101" class left off, so it is perfect for those who are interested in continuing their hand lettering practice and design skills. It is not required to have taken the first course, but recommended that you have some basic experience in hand lettering - whether it's calligraphy, designing letterforms, or using composition grids for your lettering layout.
This hand lettering class is less of a formal calligraphy class, and more of a: how do we put these words together on a page to create a visually pleasing and cohesive design, where every word fits together using layout strategies and creative fonts. Our focus will be on using various composition grids and several design challenges to help hone your skills in building layout designs for your work. Each student will receive one-on-one help with design tips and feedback, and you will walk away with several pieces that you can use as greeting cards, wall art, or window signs!
